Barclays Bank buys 8,500 iPads

As reported by TheNextWeb, Baclays Bank has placed an order for 8,500 iPads. It’s believed to be the largest corporate purchase to date in the UK. (Procured through Insight.) There are also rumours swirling on social media channels that the actual number is much higher… (unconfirmed)

A quote from a Barclays spokesperson:

“We investigated a number of different tablet options and in this instance, we concluded that iPads were the best solution for their specific needs. We are now starting to use these across Barclays branches in the UK.”

Apparently, they intend to utilise an app called ‘Mortgage Brain’, created and owned by six banks: Barclays, RBS, Virgin Money, Santander, LloydsTSB and Nationwide.
